Outdoor Learning

   In Nursery/Reception we love the outdoors!  

We are very lucky to have our own outdoor area!

Lots of our learning takes place in the outdoor area and so we ask that you please send your child to school in weather appropriate clothing and a coat!

Please make sure all clothing/accessories are labelled with your child’s name.

Homework/ How can you help your child at home?

We value your role and look forward to working in partnership with you. Here are some ways you can become involved in your child’s learning experiences and help build a unique link between home and school:

- Read to/with your child every day. Talk about the books and develop his/her interest in literature.

- Talk with him/her, answer questions and play games.

- Encourage him/her to ask questions.

- Encourage him/her to use maths in everyday situations.

- Encourage him/her to express ideas and feelings.

- Encourage him/her to explore the environment.

Reading Expectations

  We encourage you to read with your child daily!  

This may include:

- Reading your child’s reading book

- Playing games with flashcards

- Accessing Reading Eggs stories and games

- Sharing favourite stories together and talking about them

AM Nursery - Reading books are returned/sent out on a Monday

Reception - Reading books are returned/sent out on a Monday

P.E. Days

    Our PE days are:    

PM Nursery – Thursday

AM Nursery – Monday

Reception – Monday & Thursday

Please send your child to school wearing leggings/joggers and trainers on these days.

Snack  

  Pengelli is a Healthy School therefore children are asked   

to have a healthy snack at break-times

PLEASE DO NOT SEND NUTS IN AS WE HAVE SEVERAL CHILDREN WITH NUT ALLERGIES IN THE SCHOOL

Children are provided with a selection of fruit snacks every day.

Fruit is £1 a week (collected on a Friday) or you may pay termly.

This covers fruit as well as any craft and cooking costs.

Water bottles are to be brought in daily and taken home for washing. Please make sure these are clearly labelled with your child’s name. 

Speaking to a member of staff

  In Nursery/Reception we offer an ‘open door’ policy  

as best we can!

Please feel free to approach classroom staff with any quick queries at drop off/pick up times. For more detailed discussions please contact Miss Morgan via class dojo.

If you have any urgent or time sensitive messages or information (such as change of pick up plans) please contact the school office directly as classroom staff do not have access to Class Dojo while we are working with the children.

If you wish to speak to a member of staff please remember that during school hours we are working with the children. Please ring the school office to arrange to speak to the class teacher or give a message to the clerk who will pass it on to the teacher.
